Niall Geaney

Niall Geaney is a qualified solicitor, listed on the Roll of Solicitors in both the Republic of Ireland and England & Wales. He provides expert legal advice to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, specializing in commercial contracts, employment law, and commercial property.
With a strong focus on sports law, Niall offers guidance on a wide range of sports-related legal issues, including Sports Regulations, Disciplinary Matters, and Contract Law. He has experience advising on various sports such as soccer, GAA, sailing, tennis, golf, rugby, rowing, gymnastics, bowls, martial arts, and more. Niall serves as a legal consultant for several sports governing bodies and athletes, offering counsel on both national and European law.
In addition, Niall provides advice on the commercial aspects of sport, including:

- Image rights and the commercialization of assets

Niall is deeply involved in sports governance. He is a member of the Governance Committee of Golf Ireland, Chairperson of both the Golf Ireland Complaints and Disciplinary Panel and the Community Games Complaints and Disciplinary Panel, and serves on the Football Association of Ireland Disciplinary Panel. He is frequently called upon to advise on legal matters concerning GAA athletes and has represented players and clubs in front of the Dispute Resolution Authority.
A passionate advocate for the rights of children and athletes with disabilities in sport, Niall regularly advises families across Ireland on these important issues. He also provides legal counsel to athletes on liability matters related to on-field incidents and assaults.
Niall is a recognized expert in International Motorsport law, particularly with respect to regulation interpretation and judicial matters. He currently serves as Vice President of the FIA Formula One and Formula E Cost Cap Adjudication Panel as a Judge at the international level with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in Paris. Over the past 14 years, he has also provided ongoing legal advice to Motorsport Ireland, the national governing body for motorsport in Ireland. Niall graduated with an LLB in Law from the University of Limerick in 2004 and subsequently qualified as a solicitor. He splits his time between the peaceful countryside of Clonakilty, Cork, and the vibrant city of Clontarf, Dublin.
